About these terms
These terms explain how Verity Psychological Therapy operates and apply when you use this website, contact me about therapy or book an appointment.
Verity Psychological Therapy is an independent therapy practice operated by Amy Hart, CBT Therapist, Registered Social Worker with Social Work England and member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
My practice address is:
Verity Psychological Therapy
Wassell Grove Business Centre
Wassell Grove Lane
Hagley
DY9 9JH
Email: amy@
A separate therapy agreement will be provided before therapy begins. That agreement will include further information specific to you or your child. Where there is any difference between these website terms and a signed therapy agreement, the therapy agreement will take priority.
Important information about urgent support
Verity Psychological Therapy is not an emergency or crisis service.
I do not provide continuous monitoring, an out-of-hours service or an immediate response to emails, telephone calls or messages.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, unable to remain safe, has seriously harmed themselves or has taken an overdose, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department.
For urgent mental health support that is not immediately life-threatening, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, contact your GP or contact your local NHS mental health crisis team.
Please do not wait for a response from Verity Psychological Therapy before seeking urgent help.
Therapy services
I provide psychological therapy to adolescents and adults, alongside therapeutic and consultation work with parents where appropriate.
An initial consultation helps us consider what you are experiencing, what you would like support with and whether my experience and approach are suitable for your needs. A consultation does not guarantee that therapy will be offered.
Therapy is a collaborative process. I will provide an appropriately skilled and professional service, but no therapist can guarantee a particular result or outcome. At times, therapy may involve discussing difficult experiences or emotions and may temporarily feel uncomfortable.
I may recommend another professional or service if I believe that your needs would be better supported elsewhere or require a different level of care.
Sessions and fees
Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes and currently cost £75 per session, unless we have agreed something different in writing.
Payment should be made by bank transfer before each session. Appointments may be cancelled if payment has not been received.
Fees may occasionally be reviewed. Existing clients will receive reasonable advance notice of any planned increase.
Any additional work outside therapy sessions, such as lengthy reports, professional meetings, letters or attendance at external meetings, must be agreed in advance. An additional fee may apply.
Cancellations and missed appointments
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
Sessions cancelled with fewer than 48 hours’ notice, and appointments that are missed without notice, will normally be charged at the full session fee. This is because the appointment time has been reserved specifically for you and may not be possible to offer to somebody else at short notice.
If you arrive late, the session will still finish at the agreed time and the full fee will remain payable.
If I need to cancel a session, you will not be charged and I will offer an alternative appointment wherever reasonably possible.
Online therapy
Online sessions are usually provided through Google Meet.
You are responsible for joining from a safe, private and reasonably quiet location with a suitable internet connection. Please do not attend a session while driving or when another activity prevents you from participating safely.
For online work, I may ask you to confirm your current location and an emergency contact. This allows me to respond appropriately if a serious concern arises during the session.
Neither of us may record, photograph or otherwise capture a session without the other person’s clear written agreement.
If technical problems significantly interrupt a session, we will agree a reasonable way forward. This might include reconnecting, moving to telephone contact or rearranging the remaining time.
Working with children and young people
When the client is under 18, I will explain clearly who the therapy agreement is with, who is responsible for payment and how parental involvement will work.
A young person’s privacy is important. I will not routinely provide parents or carers with a detailed account of everything discussed in sessions. However, information may need to be shared where there is a safeguarding concern, a serious risk of harm or another legal or professional reason to do so.
Where possible and safe, I will discuss this with the young person before sharing information.
Confidentiality
What you discuss in therapy will normally remain confidential.
I receive regular clinical supervision as part of safe and ethical practice. Aspects of therapy may be discussed with my supervisor, but unnecessary identifying details will not normally be used. Supervisors are also bound by professional confidentiality.
There are circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be limited. These may include:
Where it is safe and reasonably possible, I will try to discuss the need to share information with you first. I will only share information that is relevant and necessary.
Further information is provided in the Privacy Policy and individual therapy agreement.
Contact between sessions
Email, text and telephone contact should generally be used for practical arrangements such as booking, cancelling or rearranging appointments.
These methods are not intended to provide therapy between sessions and must not be used as a crisis service. Messages may not be read immediately, particularly during evenings, weekends, annual leave or periods when I am seeing other clients.
To maintain professional boundaries, I do not accept friend or follow requests from current or former clients through personal social media accounts.
Ending therapy
You can choose to end therapy at any time. Wherever possible, it is helpful to discuss this during a session so that we can review the work and plan a safe and thoughtful ending.
I may suggest pausing or ending therapy if I believe it is no longer helpful, if another service would be more appropriate, if there are repeated missed appointments or unpaid fees, or if it is not possible to provide therapy safely.
Any outstanding fees remain payable when therapy ends.
Complaints
I hope that you will feel able to raise any concern with me directly so that I have an opportunity to understand what has happened and respond appropriately.
Complaints can be sent to:
Amy Hart
amy@
I will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond fairly, respectfully and within a reasonable timeframe.
If your concern cannot be resolved directly, you may contact the BABCP Complaints and Resolution Team at complaints@babcp.com.
